  Chiropractic Facts

The Doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instead interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.
~Thomas Edison~

The Facts Point to Chiropractic

How effective is chiropractic in treating musculoskeletal pain? Well in 1994, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research published a report on back pain and suggested guidelines for its treatment. This report found chiropractic care to be one of the most effective methods in the treatment of back pain. Surprisingly, it cited back surgery, as well as bed rest as ineffective methods in treating back pain.

Other studies have found:

  • Patients receiving medical treatment for back pain require almost four times longer to return to normal activity than those receiving chiropractic care (39.7 days vs. 10.8 days).
  • Two-thirds ofchiropractic patients were "very satisfied" with the care they received for back pain, while only 22% of medical patients were.
  • Chiropractic patients were far more likely to return to the same provider for future back care than medical patients (87% vs. 60%). Statistics from the Western Journal of Medicine.

Chiropractic care has undergone nine governmental studies, each of which have found it to be an effective method for treating back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions. Discover chiropractic for yourself! Come to our office for our no-obligation exam and consultation.

Nerve irritation is the leading cause of headache pain for many sufferers

Tired of taking medication for headache pain that does not go away? Find out how many Americans are finding a more permanent solution for their headache pain naturally.

There are an estimated 45 million Americans that suffer from severe, recurring attacks of migraine and tension headaches. They spend upwards of $400 million each year on over-the-counter and prescription drugs in their search for permanent relief. For some, the medication works. Unfortunately for many the relief obtained is temporary at best. A cycle of headaches and medication often occurs without any lasting relief found. If you think this describes your pain then there is good news for you.

Recent studies link headaches pain to nerve irritation. One study, conducted at the University of Maryland, found a connection between muscle tension at the base of the neck and headaches. Muscle contractions interfere with the sensitive fibers at the base of the neck that lead to the brain and spinal cord. This muscle tension often plays a contributing factor to headache pain. Another study conducted by Dr. Wright found that the vast majority of migraine headache sufferers had misalignments of the spinal vertebrae in the neck that was placing pressure on the spinal nerves.

Our remedy of headache pain is two-fold:

  • Remove pressure on the nerves caused by spinal misalignments.
  • Reduce tension in neck muscles to minimize nerve pressure due to tight muscles.

This strategy works for many headache sufferers, not only in our office but also in several studies. One such study, conducted by the government of New Zealand found that the majority of people who suffered from spinal misalignments had their headaches relieved or their condition improved through chiropractic care. And in follow-up studies of the same patients it was found that many were still without recurring headache pain two years later.

Of course, not all headaches can be helped with chiropractic care. But, if you suffer from persistent migraine or tension headaches you owe it to yourself to come to our office for a no-obligation examination and consultation. If we can not help you we will tell you, and we can refer you to another health care professional that can help.

Our services are covered by many insurance plans

Few people realize that most insurance policies cover chiropractic care. In fact, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, as well as Medicare, have covered chiropractic care for years. These carriers recognize that chiropractic care effectively treats many musculoskeletal disorders.

In addition, many HMO's and PPO's offer chiropractic care to their subscribers. In fact, recent articles published in the Journal for Managed Care cited chiropractic care as being more cost effective than conventional medical therapies in treating low back pain. It is a good chance that your local HMO is also covering chiropractic care.

In addition, injuries resulting from auto accidents are covered 100% by auto insurance and many in-home injuries are covered by home owners policies.

Our insurance department will be happy to review our insurance plan as well as fill out any of the paperwork required by your insurance carrier. We will thoroughly explain your insurance coverage to you, and our patients are not billed for any service without prior explanation and their approval first.
