The Facts Point to Chiropractic

How effective is chiropractic in treating musculoskeletal pain? Well in 1994, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research published a report on back pain and suggested guidelines for its treatment. This report found chiropractic care to be one of the most effective methods in the treatment of back pain. Surprisingly, it cited back surgery, as well as bed rest as ineffective methods in treating back pain.

Other studies have found:

• Patients receiving medical treatment for back pain require almost four times longer to return to normal activity than those receiving chiropractic care (39.7 days vs. 10.8 days).
• Two-thirds of chiropractic patients were "very satisfied" with the care they received for back pain, while only 22% of medical patients were.
• Chiropractic patients were far more likely to return to the same provider for future back care than medical patients (87% vs. 60%). Statistics from the Western Journal of Medicine.

Nerve irritation is the leading cause of headache pain for many sufferers

2. Reduce tension in neck muscles to minimize nerve pressure due to tight muscles.

This strategy works for many headache sufferers, not only in our office but also in several studies. One such study, conducted by the government of New Zealand found that the majority of people who suffered from spinal misalignments had their headaches relieved or their condition improved through chiropractic care. And in follow-up studies of the same patients it was found that many were still without recurring headache pain two years later.
